Our Approach
To Sustainability
From exploration to production, sustainability is integral to everything we do at ALiGRO. We are constantly challenging ourselves as to what’s possible to produce more of the environmentally clean lithium the world needs to transition away from fossil fuels whilst adhering to the highest possible standards of environmental stewardship, beneficial community participation and proactive transparency.
ALiGRO
Community First
ALiGRO is dedicated to prioritising the needs, rights, and well-being of local communities. Holding regular meetings with key local structures for continuous dialogue. Our interactions are characterised by openness and honesty, with a focus on job creation, skills development, and community support.
Engage with communities to understand their concerns and ensure that benefits from our operations are equitably shared. Additionally, we take proactive steps to minimize any negative impacts on the community and environment. Through these efforts, ALiGRO aims to build sustainable partnerships with local communities.
The
Amandla Consortium
Amandla is ALiGRO’s joint venture partner in its KZN Highbury development project as well as other early stage exploration projects in South Africa. Amandla is fully BEE compliant, controlled by indigenous black South Africans and majority owned by a cross section of experienced black South African mining industry entrepreneurs, as well as investors.
Communities neighboring and surrounding ALiGRO’s Highbury project will participate in a preferred economic participation arrangement whereby they will be risk free financial beneficiaries in its Highbury project via the payment of a life of mine preferential dividend distributed by Amandla to The Highbury Community Trust.
ALiGRO
Academy of Entrepreneurship
The ALiGRO Academy is the formalisation of our commitment to foster entrepreneurship within the communities we operate in. We believe that by supporting existing entrepreneurs and empowering new entrepreneurs this will have a sustainable positive impact on our host communities beyond the direct and indirect jobs and opportunities our projects create. By proactively stimulating entrepreneurship our host communities will become more self-reliant in the long term and be better equipped to continue their development beyond a mine’s life and its rehabilitation.
