Having worked in various capacities as a Researcher, Legal Advisor and Special Advisor to the South African government, culminating with 26 years experience in the mining industry on behalf of government, Sandile is widely recognized as one of South Africa’s most accomplished mining industry civil servants.
From his position as the deputy Director-General of in the Department of Public Service and Administration Sandile joined the Department of Minerals and Energy where he served as Director-General from 1998 until 2011, after which he was appointed as South Africa’s Ambassador to Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama (concurrently). From 2011 to date he has been Special Advisor to multiple South African Ministers of Minerals and Energy, and Ministers of Mineral Resources, as well as a select group of South African mining companies.
Sandile has been special Advisor for Mineral Regulation to ALIGRO since 2020
