Ian has been in the mining industry for more than 25 years with most of this time spent on African pegmatite type development and mining operations.
As the COO and CEO of various JSE and LSE listed mining companies between 2000 and 2018 (including Afgem, TanzaniteOne and Gemfields) Ian was directly involved in the establishment of green field projects in Tanzania and Ethiopia, a large scale open pit mining operation in Zambia and a new mine build and commissioning in Mozambique.
As a director in a global mining consultancy post 2018, with specific focus on ESG, Ian has developed a reputation for successful and sustainable outcomes from stakeholder engagement. Supported by a considerable industry network Ian has a proven track record to form, direct and motivate highly effective operational teams, often in remote and challenging locations.
